An experimental book design based on Ludwig Wittgenstein’s “Remarks on Colour” explores the connection between the perception of graphics and linguistic expression. The book is a dialogue composed of excerpts from the two subjects “white” and “colorblindness” of the original work. The excerpts, transformed into two themes, are deconstructed to be presented in a non-linear reading structure to reflect the content and open to different interpretations. The two themes each have their own covers, while the title and introduction of the book are placed in the middle, allowing for reading from the inside out or from the outside in.

Theme 1_Clarity

Why can't we imagine transparent-white glass, even if there isn't any in actuality? Where does the analogy with transparent coloured glass go wrong? ––Remarks on Colour  I-31

Theme 2_Ambiguity

I can say: This man does not distinguish between red and green. But can I say that we normal people distinguish red and green? We could, however, say: “Here we see two colors, he sees only one.” ––Remarks on Colour III-54
